Surrey Bathroom Renovation | Thoughtful Design for Better Everyday Living

Located in Surrey, BC, this project involved a partial renovation of an older home, with a primary focus on transforming the existing bathroom.

After moving in, the homeowners found that the original bathroom no longer met their needs in terms of layout, storage, and overall design. Our goal was to improve the entire experience of the space without making major changes to the existing footprint.

The design was guided by three key principles: simplicity, timelessness, and ease of maintenance. By carefully reconsidering materials, proportions, and functional details, we transformed an outdated and enclosed bathroom into a modern space that feels more open, practical, and refined.

Shower & Bathtub | Creating a More Open Layout

The shower and bathtub areas are separated with frameless glass, providing functional separation while maintaining an open and visually connected space.

Large-format stone-look tiles were used throughout the wet areas to minimize grout lines and create a cleaner, more seamless appearance. Fewer grout joints also mean easier maintenance and less effort required for everyday cleaning.

Double Vanity | Balancing Function & Warmth

A double vanity improves functionality for shared daily routines, while wood-grain cabinetry and vertical wood slat detailing introduce warmth and texture into the otherwise neutral material palette.

This combination helps balance the cooler stone surfaces, creating a bathroom that feels calm, inviting, and visually grounded.

Matte black fixtures are carried consistently throughout the space—from the faucets to the shower system—creating a cohesive design language and adding subtle definition to the overall palette.

Lighting | A Softer Everyday Atmosphere

Round light fixtures and dedicated vanity lighting help soften the clean architectural lines of the bathroom.

The layered lighting provides comfortable illumination throughout different times of the day while contributing to a warmer and more relaxing atmosphere.

Thoughtful Renovation Within the Existing Space

The value of this renovation did not come from making major structural changes. Instead, it came from making precise design decisions within the existing space.

By improving circulation, materials, storage, lighting, and everyday functionality, the bathroom was redesigned around the people who actually use it.

For us, a successful renovation is about more than creating a space that simply works—it is about creating a space that homeowners enjoy using every day.
