Two-Storey Full-Home Renovation | Modern Minimalism in Black, White & Grey
🎯 Project Overview
This project involved a complete renovation of a two-storey home, guided by a modern minimalist design approach.
Clean architectural lines, a neutral palette of black, white, and grey, and carefully selected materials come together to create a home that feels contemporary, refined, and comfortable.
Both levels were designed to provide complete everyday living functionality, including a total of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a kitchen, creating a highly practical and flexible residential layout.
🍳 Kitchen & Laundry Area
The kitchen features high-gloss two-tone cabinetry, adding visual depth while reinforcing the home’s contemporary aesthetic.
- Cabinetry & Countertops
Glossy white upper cabinets are paired with dark grey lower cabinetry. The reflective surfaces help bounce light throughout the kitchen, creating a brighter and more spacious feel while remaining easy to maintain.
White quartz countertops with subtle marble-look veining provide a durable work surface while adding an elegant finishing touch.
- Flooring & Details
Large-format white marble-look floor tiles visually connect with the quartz countertops, creating a clean and cohesive material palette.
Grey-and-white striped roller shades provide privacy while allowing greater control over natural light.
- Integrated Laundry Area
A stacked front-load washer and dryer is efficiently integrated beside the kitchen, maximizing functionality without taking up unnecessary floor space.
🛁 Modern Bathrooms
Both bathrooms continue the home’s minimalist black, white, and grey palette, complemented by carefully coordinated fixtures and finishes.
- Shower & Bathtub Area
Black-framed sliding glass doors define the wet areas while maintaining clean sightlines throughout the bathroom.
White three-dimensional wave-textured tiles introduce subtle movement and depth, changing in appearance as light moves across the surface.
A matte black shower system and built-in shower niche provide practical functionality while reinforcing the modern aesthetic.
- Vanity Area
A grey vanity with double cabinet doors is paired with a white quartz countertop and undermount sink for a clean, streamlined finish.
- Fixtures & Lighting
Matte black finishes are carried consistently throughout the faucets, towel bars, and shower fixtures, creating a strong contrast against the lighter surfaces.
A modern black LED vanity light and a soft-cornered mirror complete the space, while a streamlined one-piece toilet maintains the bathroom’s minimalist aesthetic.
🛋️ Living Room & Lounge Area
The living area balances contemporary simplicity with warmer, more traditional details.
- Fireplace Feature
A carefully designed fireplace feature wall incorporates white-painted brick, introducing texture and subtle character while giving the space a timeless, slightly rustic touch.
- Walls & Flooring
Simple white walls keep the room bright and modern, while wood-look flooring adds warmth and provides a softer transition around the fireplace area.
🪜 Staircase & Entryway
The staircase connecting the two levels was designed with both safety and visual consistency in mind.
- Railing Design
Black metal railings are used along the staircase and upper-level landing. Their clean vertical lines echo the matte black fixtures found throughout the home.
- Handrail & Stair Finishes
A simple white handrail blends naturally into the surrounding walls, while light wood stair treads coordinate with the flooring in the main living areas.
- Entry Door
A white front door keeps the entryway bright and understated, while an adjacent frosted glass panel allows natural light to enter without compromising privacy.
🌟 Design Highlights
- Neutral Colour Palette
Black, white, and grey create a clean, sophisticated foundation that feels contemporary without being overly trend-driven.
- Thoughtful Material Selection
Marble-look quartz, high-gloss cabinetry, dimensional wave tiles, and warm wood finishes introduce texture and depth throughout the home.
- Contrast & Balance
Matte black fixtures create crisp definition against the lighter surfaces, while wood tones soften the monochromatic palette and bring warmth into the interior.
A Cohesive Modern Transformation
From the kitchen and bathrooms to the living room, staircase, and entryway, this renovation uses a consistent material and colour language to connect both levels of the home.
The result is a functional, cohesive, and modern living environment that balances minimalist design with the comfort and practicality required for everyday life.
