Coquitlam Fireplace Feature Wall Renovation | Before & After

Before | Visually Heavy & Overwhelming

Before the renovation, the fireplace materials dominated the room and drew too much visual attention.

Its heavy appearance made the living room feel darker and more enclosed, while the proportions of the feature wall created a sense of visual weight within the space.

After | A Lighter, More Balanced Design

The fireplace feature wall was redesigned with a lighter colour palette, cleaner lines, and more streamlined proportions.

By simplifying the overall composition and emphasizing vertical lines, the new design creates a brighter and more balanced focal point without overwhelming the living room.

Symmetrical Open Shelving

Open shelves were added to both sides of the fireplace, creating a sense of symmetry while balancing display and functional storage.

Integrated indirect lighting adds depth and warmth to the shelving without making the feature wall feel visually heavy.

A Clean & Timeless Result

Even with minimal styling and decoration, the completed space maintains a clean, balanced, and refined appearance.

Rather than relying on excessive decorative elements, the design focuses on proportion, simplicity, and functionality—creating a fireplace feature wall that feels timeless, versatile, and designed for long-term living.
